Music on Hold (MOH)
Audio — music, messages, or promotions — played to callers while they are on hold or waiting in a queue.
Music on Hold (MOH) is the audio content played to callers when they are placed on hold by an agent or waiting in a call queue. Rather than silence (which callers often interpret as a dropped call), MOH keeps callers engaged and informed that they are still connected and their call will be answered.
Beyond preventing hang-ups, MOH is a valuable marketing channel. Businesses can mix branded music with recorded promotional messages: new product announcements, seasonal offers, website and self-service information, or reminders of business hours and locations. Studies show that callers who hear informational messages while on hold are more likely to remain on the line longer than those who hear only music.
Zonitel allows businesses to upload custom audio files for hold music in MP3 or WAV format. Different audio tracks can be assigned to different call queues or departments — for example, the sales queue might play a product promotion while the support queue plays troubleshooting tips. Audio scheduling allows different content during business hours vs. after-hours.
