Caller ID

A feature that displays the incoming caller's phone number — and sometimes name — before the call is answered.

Caller ID (Calling Line Identification) transmits the originating phone number to the recipient's device before the call is connected. When the number is registered in a public database, the carrier also passes the associated name — known as CNAM (Calling Name).

For businesses, controlling outbound caller ID is just as important as seeing inbound caller ID. A company may want all outbound calls to display a single published number (e.g., the main office line) regardless of which extension or device is placing the call. This builds brand recognition and increases answer rates compared to calls from unknown numbers.

Zonitel allows administrators to set custom outbound caller ID per extension, ring group, or campaign. Callers always see a consistent, recognizable number. Inbound caller ID is displayed in the softphone app and active panel dashboard, and can be matched against your CRM to show customer names and account info automatically.
