Virtual Phone Number

A phone number that isn't tied to a physical line, letting businesses establish a local or national presence anywhere.

A virtual phone number is a telephone number that exists entirely in software — it has no physical wires, circuits, or SIM cards associated with it. Instead, calls made to a virtual number are routed over the internet to whatever device or application the owner has configured: a desk phone, a mobile app, a call queue, or an IVR.

Virtual numbers are powerful tools for business expansion and marketing. A company based in Dallas can acquire local Los Angeles and Miami numbers to appear local to customers in those markets. A startup can project a national presence with a toll-free number before opening a single office. Marketing teams use separate virtual numbers for each ad campaign to track which channels generate calls.

All numbers on the Zonitel platform are virtual by nature. You can acquire local DIDs in hundreds of area codes, toll-free numbers, or port in existing numbers from another carrier. Virtual numbers can be reassigned, reprogrammed, or deactivated in seconds through the admin portal with no carrier service calls required.
