After-Hours Routing
Automatic call handling rules that activate outside business hours — sending calls to voicemail, an on-call number, or a custom after-hours message.
After-hours routing defines what happens to incoming calls when your business is closed. Without it, calls ring endlessly or hit a generic voicemail — neither of which creates a good impression or keeps potential customers engaged. With after-hours routing configured, the phone system automatically switches to a different set of rules at closing time: playing a custom message with business hours, offering callers the option to leave a voicemail or press a key to reach an emergency contact, or forwarding urgent calls to an on-call mobile number.
After-hours routing is time-based — you configure your business hours schedule once, and the system switches modes automatically every day, including weekends and holidays. You can create separate routing trees for different scenarios: a standard after-hours message on weeknights, a holiday closure message in December, and an emergency forwarding rule for critical support scenarios.
Zonitel's scheduling system allows businesses to define multiple named schedules (regular hours, holiday hours, emergency mode) and switch between them instantly from the admin portal or mobile app. Custom voicemail greetings, missed call text-back messages, and overflow forwarding all integrate with the after-hours schedule.
